Five Favorites: The Newborn Edition

Congratulations Hallie!!!! Baby Charlie is so adorable!
Yesterday my baby turned three months old. She's not a newborn anymore.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Ok I'm done crying.
I'm in a weird mood. I had a dream last night that I was on the roof of a school and there was a slide attached and I kept going down it, over and over. It was AWESOME! Why don't schools have these? I would have loved school way more if they had incorporated the roof slide into the curriculum.
Anyhow, let us commence.
In honor of Miabella's graduation from Newbornness, and in honor of baby Charlie's New Newbornness, I will project my own interests onto all of you.
Please give a warm welcome to my Five Faves for Newborns. (large round of applause, cheering, a hearty catcall, a baby wailing)
                                                                             1)
Gap's Newborn Favorites: comfy, soft, well fitting, adorbs.
Look, I don't know about you, but I have rather small babies.I mean don't hate my guts or anything,
but my biggest baby was 7lb 6oz.
Hey. Stop giving me that dirty look.
The thing with newborn babies is, it's hard putting them in clothes that are way too big on them.
It's like being a size 8 and having someone dress you in a 3x blouse.
How is that comfortable?!?!
I'm sorry, it's just wrong.
In my experience, some of the clothes out there that are marked "newborn" or "0-3 months" were made by liars.
But Gap ain't lyin about they baby clothes, honeychild.
I have some of the "up to 7 lbs" clothes and they are PERFECT for newborns.
Why are you glaring?!
Haters gon hate.

2)
This stuff is the cadillac of all baby lotions.
It's really thick but rubs right into baby's skin and keeps it moisturized. And it smells awesome.
AND it's made with Calendula, which literally means "This is one fine ass lotion" in Latin.
So you know it's good

3)

Padraig better send me some free slippers after this, cuz I just know
they're gonna get some hits to their site because of me.
I mean HOW CUTE are these slippers?!?! For reals.
And they have a whole bunch of other sweet color combos.
They're lined with supersoft wool, kinda like Uggs.
Plus: THEY NEVER EVER FALL OFF YOUR BABY'S FEET!!!
                                                                  *angels singing*
                                                           *so many angels singing*
If you've never been a parent, you might be like "Is that a serious problem?"
And I would maybe throw a shoe at you.
                                                                      It IS a problem.
(I wouldn't really throw a shoe at you though)
You want to keep your baby's feet warm, and your baby knows this.

                                                                              4)

The Sheepskin Baby Rug. Chickachickabowwoooow!!!
I LOVE THESE!!! Great for baby to lay on, great for floor time, great in the winter, great in the summer, great in the morning, great in the noontime, great in the evening, just great. Really really great.
Sorry. Have I ever told you my kids don't take naps?
Well THEY DON'T. And that's why I'm crazy.
Next.

Sara Groves is one of my very favorite Christian singer/songwriters and
I just love this CD.
I'm not gon lie: some of these songs are so beautiful, they had me bawling so hard I was in the fetal position.
And then the cop pulled me over and said "Pardon me but that is NO way to drive. Get a hold of yourself."
I kid, I kid.
Maybe it's because I'm rather postpartum. Or because my teenager has already fled the nest. Or because I am always always always tired.
Whatever the reason, I was weepin like a willow tree, y'all.
"Station Wagon" covers a range of topics.
Here's some sample lyrics:

"Baby there's some holes you just can't fill
you try and try but you never will
Baby I believe a God who can
He loves the boy and He'll love the man"
-Alot Like Me

" Free to fly, free to go, free to not look back
That's how free I want you though it scares me half to death
Free to wander miles and miles and free to come back home
That's how free I want you though it chills me to the bone
...Go on son and spread your wings; I hope that you take flight
But please please please don't forget to write"
                                                                - Small Piece of You

"As you grow, I'll show you things
How to ride your bike and kick your legs out on the swings
To fold your hands and bow your head
How to say your prayers before you go to bed
                                                                And you'll teach me
                                                               Of hearts and dreams
And all the most important things
And all that I have lost along the way
                                                                      And I can't wait"
-I Can't Wait

Well that's all I have for you today! Go see Hallie , congratulate her on her new baby, and git you some mo' Five Favorites!!!

  2. Ok, the lyrics to Small Piece of You have me crying into my toast this morning. Maybe it is because my oldest will be 17 in a couple months, has a job and more cash in his wallet than me, and keeps talking about college and the military. Wahhh! My first baby is almost grown! And he was 10lbs 3oz, by the way. I'm not hatin', I'm just sayin'. ;)
