Why You Be So Quiet Lately?!

Ladidahdidahdedododaaaah.
Oh Hello.
So Saturday night was another night from the Underworld. The baby woke up just shy of one million times, cuz her po' gums was in PAIN. Her first tooth is right on the verge. It's like waiting for an egg to hatch, I swear.
Last night was a little better, until about 4 am. Then the wailing and gnashing of Noteeth began again.
I tried to nurse her while Dan grabbed the meds. He gave them to her, and she drank the sweet motrin nectar like it was Supermilk or something.
Dan was so exhausted that he didn't even get back under the covers. He just fell face forward onto the bed at an angle, and he never really moved after that.
In my groggy state, I asked him, "Why...are you planking? Whyareyouplanking??"
He never answered. He continued sleeping that way throughout the night.
At least SOMEone is smiling in this picture.
Today he says he has no recollection of this, and doesn't even know what I'm talking about.
Well. I know what I saw.
Man, we're both exhausted.
I have no grand point to make. I just wanted to whine about it for a sec, let you know I'm breathing over here and stand collapse beside you in solidarity as a fellow parent.
Is your road a little rough lately?
Mama knows, honeychild. You ain't alone.

  1. My litttle one is right there too. I'm thankful for coffee. And her amber necklace. It really makes a difference - brings her down a few notches.

    1. You really shouldn't give your baby coffee, there's half your problem right there...

Bwahahaha! I obviously need a cup myself.

  2. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha loled for real! as always! I was just marveling last night at how my child is another being when he's no longer teething. Like all of a sudden I realize I like my baby again when it's over.

    Teething is the worst!!!!!!!

  3. I am convinced that painful teething is a result of the Fall.

  4. No teething, but we have our own brand of carazy-ness up in here. So...I feel you. That looks creepy all typed out like that. Maybe I'll just give you the commiserating nod from across the room instead.

  6. Poor mama. Poor hubby. Poor baby.

I was just telling my friend today that at certain moments I am absolutely DYING to have another baby (my youngest is 2+) and then at other moments I'm all... Well this is nice. Whatever, it's bound to happen again, and I will be happy when it does. Right now I'm happy to enjoy the respite from wailing and gnashing of Noteeth, too.

  9. Sending commiserating mom hugs your way!! Sometimes I take great glee in waking my 11-year-old for school. It's kinda like a mini-payback for al those screaming nights, and a lovely reminder that yes, someday the baby will actually sleep through the night, and teeth will no longer be all-consuming.

  10. Ugh, we're there, too. Last night I got about 5 hours of sleep. Which is much better than the night last week where I only got 3...

  11. That was a timely post for me to read! I sent it to my husband! That has been the scenario at our house the last two nights! Only in the wee hours of this morning, baby boy decided to nurse sideways and flutter kick my husband for about an hour. We all got up before six, and of course baby decided it was finally time to sleep!
    Thanks for sharing the joy!

  12. Ha! My husband has done the same thing! What's annoying is when he does it sideways, leaving no room for me! Hope the teeth come through pronto so everyone can get some sleep!

  13. We always know we are TIRED when we sleep like that, face down, and then wake up with a pillow crease on our faces. Feel your pain!

  14. Your blog makes me laugh - hope it makes you feel better knowing that your suffering cheers other people up! Well, truthfully, if you weren't able to see the humor it wouldn't bring cheer. May God bless and strengthen you and reward your labors of love!

  15. It has been many years since I experienced this, however, my question is, is it worst than colic? Thanks to all of you for sharing it does bring back memories and laughter.

  16. Teething is the worst! I don't think it's worse than colic though, to answer Fr.Philip. (Not sure if he was really execting an answer, but oh well.) At least teething is a few days at a time while colic can go on for months and months! But yes, teething is terrible! Lots of tylenol and Motrin! Hope it passes quicklyT
